FUNDING FOR THE COMMUNITY SPACE
We are looking at the Playing Field as a whole and debating how to improve it. At present, we have a fairly conventional facility – football and cricket pitches with a pavilion and a playground. We have since been coordinating work on developing the Playing Field to realise a new Community Space. This will involve replacing the ageing children’s playground (originally purchased by the PC and installed in 2007) and (we hope) introducing a range of other facilities for the enjoyment, relaxation and well-being of our community. The replacement playground alone will cost at least £50,000.
Before we can do that, we need to know what people want. We undertook a survey in early 2022 and the results can be viewed in the document below.
The Parish Council is not permitted to fund-raise – so the community has stepped-up to the plate and has been working very hard to build-up a fund and seek grants from interested commercial parties. Many fund-raising village events have already been staged – and many other events and individuals have also donated funds. As time goes on, this page will develop to show what’s being planned by the Playing Field Association, how their plans are progressing, what funds we have available – and where those funds have come from.
